Lunchtime learning Update 2

Another update from my lunchtime paintings, its another one of Daarken’s tutorials . This one took a little longer but was still done in around 50 minutes ish, done over 3 lunchtimes.  No colour picking so I think that’s why I made it a little to dark.

Edit: I really should have just left it but it was really bugging me. So I took 10 minutes or so at lunch and fixed it. Its still not perfect but I want to get on to the next study :)

Program:Photoshop CS5

Time: 1 hour (over 4 lunchtimes)

Lunchtime learning week 1

Over the past 5 months I have learned a crazy amount at my new job and I have decided to start from the beginning with my education. So for the next few months I will be working on improving my fundamental knowledge during my lunch times.  My goal is to get one of two sketches done a week and then once I am more comfortable moving on to more complex study’s. I’m starting with some tutorials from the very awesome Daarken  using reff from http://www.planesofthehead.com/

Program: PhotoshopCS5

Time: 45min (over two lunch times)

Within the void rough

So my first 2 weeks at my new job are going really well, my anatomy course is hard but almost finished and I took a little time to paint up a quick rough for a new painting I am going to be working on in my own time.

Its still really really rough, but you get the general idea. Enjoy

Character thumbnails #2

A few months ago-before I started my first course-I did some very quick thumbnails.  About a week ago I got some feedback on them and decided to take one of them further. Its about ready for colour but I just thought I would put up something that wasn’t course related!

So enjoy and happy Halloween!

Time: about 4 hours

Fist week of my Anatomy course

Firstly, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!  And secondly, I have started my second course with CGMW!

The first week was a toughie, we had to work on a lot of very rough poses and chose 5 for submission. When I work I have the problem of wanting to take the sketch further and I end up with too much too quickly. After getting some amazing feedback from the lecturer I went back and did my poses again, but this time I timed myself and each pose took under 2 minutes! Enjoy!

Quick Edit

I did this one a while ago and finally took an hour to fix what has been annoying me about it. I’ve gotten some amazing feedback about this painting and it feels great to make the changes to it before I get to busy with course work again.

Wasteland speed paint

I started this one last weekend and after getting a little feedback from a few awesome artists the other day I made a few changes. Enjoy!

Last hand in for the master class

I have had a great time on the course at CGMW and like all things when you are having fun it is over way to quickly. I decided to work on a concept for a free running scout for my final submission.  After getting my feedback I have updated this post with the newer version of the concept, I have also added a work in progress. Hope you guys like it.

Below are a few JPG’s I took while painting.

Games, a painting and the article

Some of you may remember that last year I shaved off my hair to raise money for Cancer Research Uk, I managed to raise over £1000.  This year I am doing something a little diffident but no less important, I will be playing games to help heal kids, it’s a brilliant cause and I will also be  doing paintings for prizes to people that sponsor me.

So in October I will be playing 24 hours of Dark Souls for a charity called Extra Life, all to raise some much needed money for the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, I choice them since they do an amazing job and also because I was in there a lot when I was little.

I would love your support, so if you can, please sponsor me. Thank you.

On the same subject a very good friend run’s ScottishGames.net and has featured me in an article so if you want to know more about the prizes I will be doing then you can read about them here.

Another update from CGMW class

Just another quick update from my CGMW class. I handed this in but I wasn’t happy with it, so spend an hour or so fixing how it looked.  Hope you guys like it.
